You were high enough—
High enough to reach for the skies,
To grab the clouds and make little pillows out of them,
To pluck the stars and tuck them in your bouquet,
To catch the comets and toss them in your bonfire,

To reach for the moon you so admire.

You planted little seeds on its other side
A secret only you know about
Maybe one of them even bloomed:
A hydrangea thriving despite the absence of sunlight

While I will be here on Earth,
A mere looker.
I will watch as you paint the night sky your favorite hue:
Blue.

I will be among the millions below.
I know you will not see them,
But my eyes will reflect the smile on your face—
As you reach for the moon you so adore,
The stars, comets, meteors, and more.
