The Silhouette That Was Never There
I see you in places you've never been:
At the park—pouring your heart out for a laughter
At my favorite coffee shop—savoring the coffee I wish you'd try
I can almost see your shadow at my seat,
Crouching over,
Writing a poem you say is a surprise for me
Or the time I see you playing your guitar,
With a frown on your face, creases on your brow,
And soft murmurs of "I don't get it" in the air.
Whispers of unsaid promises in the dark,
The glances we never exchanged,
The music we never danced to,
And the moments we never had...
I see us in places we've never been,
Places that we'll never be—
But could have.
